Life On Mission – Daily Devotion – Day 5
‘Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! ‘ Acts 4:8
‘For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. ‘ 2 Timothy 1:7
What is being said?
The Holy Spirit is the person in the Godhead that fuels our faith. Something we sometime do is try and take fuel from the wrong source in our Christian walk that can lead to loss of momentum and ultimately cause us to stop moving at all.
I remember a time when I was in my early twenties, up early to get into work. I went to the petrol station and only put a little bit of fuel in the car in order to get to work. In my ‘sleepy’ state I put petrol into a diesel car.. not recommended. Just as I was coming to the end of the motorway the car started to judder and came to an abrupt stop. I had put the wrong thing into the engine which has caused a loss in momentum and then a standstill.
Let me ask some questions.
- What is the source of our ‘re-fueling’?
- What motivates us?
- What things have typically made us resilient
- What happens when the pressure in life is turned up?
I pray today that we recognise and realise that the power in our daily walk comes from the Holy Spirit not what this world can give us.
