Life On Mission – Daily Devotion – Day 2

So day 2 is here.  Felt encouraged and challenged yesterday but God continues to open my eyes to the closeness he wants with me.

‘We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; ‘ Romans 12:6-8

‘There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.’ 1 Corinthians 12:4-11

What is being said?

We are all created uniquely by God, just pause and take that in for a moment.  He knows us, better than we know ourselves.  We have different gifts – lets not compare to others in ministry, leadership or the body of Christ.  He states there are different kinds of service but the same Lord.  Wherever we are placed, whatever we have been given as an assignment we have been called under one name the name of Jesus Christ.

I think about the life of Smith Wigglesworth that had 14 recorded ressurections and a crazy, crazy ministry! One thing that stood out to me about his life is God gave him significant increase of gifting and annointing after his wife died.

She herself was an incredible annointed preacher probably doing more in that setting than him up until that point.  After she went to take her place in heaven; Smith Wigglesworth was then catapulted into his destiny with new gifting and authority.  If we humble ourselves the gifts we have now may not necessarily be the gifts of tomorrow but the purpose is the same to be used for the common good, not to elevate us into stardom.

Today’s Relevance

Today I look to be close to God in everything I do.  I look to be a servant to his purpose understanding I bring the ordinary but He brings the extra.  I am thankful for what gifts I have been given and today I look to encourage around me to use theirs.  I am open to recieve more ut first I will use what has already been given.

Lord today I thank you for the gifts that have been given and have been sent to be used for the common good of the Kingdom of heaven on earth.  I pray that I am open through your spirit to see opportunities placed into my life to use these giftings.
